From Kate to Catherine

The series celebrates the Royal wedding of Kate Middleton to Prince William. Each Kate chose there own location for the portrait, some also added an object as a reference to the wedding, from Royal Duchy Biscuits to choosing a church as their location where they were married themselves.

Q: Is there any reason why you were called Kate

A: My name comes from my grandmother on my mothers side.

I’m called Catherine by family and friends in the north and Kate by friends and artists in the south. It sometimes feels like i’m two different people.

Q: Is there any reason why you were called Katherine?

A: I was meant to be registered as Kate or Katie, but an old fashioned registrar insisted on a proper name and put Katherine.

Q: Is there any reason why you were called Kathryn?

A: My parents thought that it went well with my surname and were happy that I could choose if I wanted to be called Kate or Kathryn, although I seem to only be called Kathryn if i’m in trouble.

Q: Is there any reason why you were called Katharine?

A: After Katharine Hepburn, my parents favourite film star. I like confusing people by saying my name is Katharine is spelt with an A as in Hepburn.

Q: Is there any reason why you were called Katharine?

A: I was born five weeks early and my mother had not yet thought of a name, however after six hours of the nurses in the hospital calling me baby Barrett, my mother and father hastily decided on the name. My grandmother told my parents to spell it properly with an a and a K like St Katharine’s Dock and Katharine Hepburn. This spelling has caused problems all my life.

Q: Is there any reason why you were called Kate?

A: I am named after the fictional character Scarlett O’Hara in the novel Gone with the Wind, whose real name is Kate according to my mum.

Q: Is there any reason why you were called Kate?

A: My name comes from the character Kitty in the book Pride and Prejudice, I too have a twin sister called Lydia like the sisters in the book. my mother also know an old lady called Kate who had not had children and so adapted Kitty to Kate in her honour. I wished I had been given my sisters name as Lydia is much more unusual.

A: My name comes from the character Cathy in Wuthering Heights, but i’m Kate with a K. I was given the name so I had an option of Kate, Kathy or Katherine.
