MEET
Waltham Forest is a diverse, cosmopolitan and vibrant but underprivileged suburb of North East London. The Borough geographically separated from the rest of London by Walthamstow Marshes and with few entertainment and cultural facilities within the Borough residents have developed a spirited independence. All of which contributes to making a creative and do-it-yourself mentality. There are independent social groups for almost every conceivable activity, from the Fuscia and Pelargonium Society to Operatic Societies, Scrap-bookers to Ramblers - each week, thousands of local residents take part in little known activities which enrich their lives. Image17 photographers will set out to document these subjects, embracing and celebrating all ages and cultures and portraying them in a positive light.
